Amber Flag

Amber Flag

The Amber Flag is the committee that promotes positive, healthy mental health in the school community. The Amber flag is an initiative that focuses on secondary schools to promote mental health and is run by Pieta House. The school can achieve this flag by carrying out tasks throughout the year,

Our school held events this month to promote positive mental health. Our school held a “Drop everything and relax” event which is quite simple. During tutor time, the students would spend that class relaxing and taking a moment (within the parameters of covid-19 restrictions and safety). We organised many other events such as mindful colouring during lunch time, walking around the park for each of the year supervised by the teachers and the school amber flag committee.

We also organised a fundraiser to donate money to Pieta house. Students were allowed to wear their own clothes, but required to bring €2. The theme was orange and green to represent the amber flag and limerick mental health week. In total we raised and donated €1,004 for Pieta house. In the end, we had a great time during the week
