Mungret Community College Start Their Munster Championship Campaign With A Win Against Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh
On the 20th of January, the U15 Mungret Community College hurling team had a great win over Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh at Ahane GAA club. In the opening quarter, the pairing of Jamie Byrne and Robert Purtill at midfield helped Mungret to take control of the game. Jamie scored 1-3 and Robert scored 3 points. The forwards for Mungret were in form. Sean Walsh scored 4-1 from full forward and Josh Rohan made a fantastic debut scoring 2 goals from corner forward. Conal Boyle worked tirelessly, setting up the attacks and scored some nice points from long range. The defenders worked as a unit to win the ball and clear their lines. Cian Reilly dominated at centre back along with Conal Leenane and Jack Hoolihan, while Paddy Ahern, Odhran Bohane, and David Lynch maked their men well. Sean Keogh made a great impact on the game when he came off of the bench, scoring 2 great points from long range. Stephen O' Mahony came on at full forward and scored a fantastic goal to seal the victory. In the closing stages of the game, Mark Neligan increased his tally to 1-3. He worked tirelessly along the wing with Sam Roche who also got on the score sheet with 2 points from play. The final score was Mungret Community College 11-16 Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh 3-2. Mungret will play against Newport College in the next round of the Munster Championship on Wednesday the 29th of January. The students have trained extremely hard all year and they look forward to focusing on preparing for the next challenge.
