Wellbeing week
Members of Amber Flag and the Wellbeing Team organised a fun filled week in order to promote positive mental health awareness around the school. This involved various events for each year group; first year students brought their grandparents into the school for a coffee morning, second year students had a cinema day, sixth years had a coffee morning, and finally third, fifth, sixth and transition year students had a motivational speaker Dessie Fitzgerarld in to talk about resilience.
Students also made sure to remember their teachers over wellbeing week by providing each teacher with a Wispa bar with a personalised poem written on it. This appreciation made some of the teachers’ week.
Karaoke and Rock the boat were both included on Friday to allow students to finish school with a smile on their faces :)
Please see attached some photos of our events.
Amber Flag
The Amber Flag is an initiative run by Pieta House which encourages schools to promote positive mental health and wellbeing from students to staff to community.
In Mungret CC we have completed many activities throughout the year which tried to promote positive mental health throughout the school community.
These included a Big Coffee morning to raise money for Milford Hospice, a remembrance tree to remember those who have passed, chocolates and appreciation notes from the students to the staff as a thank you for their hard work throughout the year, roses for valentines, a Fun Run was held to raise money for Jig-Saw along with forming a wellbeing area for students to utilise when feeling students need a mindful moment.
