The Business Club held a market to help celebrate the school's Festival of Creativity week. The market was held during lunchtime so students from every year were welcome. This was a fun event that helped our members understand a variety of business concepts such as breaking even, making a profit and supply and demand. All members put in a massive effort to organise their stall. There was lots on offer from baked goods to clothing accessories. For anyone thinking of joining, the club is open to 1st-3rd year students and we meet on Tuesdays during lunch!
They explored the behind the scenes activities required to operate a vending machine such as managing stock, setting profit margins and sales prices and the challenges of achieving sufficient sales to cover rental charges or purchase price of a machine.
Over the next few weeks they will be planning their mini market in conjunction with the festival of creativity.
"Mini Market on Thursday 21 December"
The students in the club are selling their goods to students at our mini market on 21 December.
The club has been meeting weekly since late September to explore the process of setting up mini companies with a view to marking a profit for students and to raise funds for sustainable projects at school.
"Spring - Business Club"
The club will re-commence weekly meetings in January with a view to having another mini market during the festival of creativity. New students from 1st and 2nd year are welcome.
