DELF French language proficiency examinations
- DELF (Diplôme d'études en langue française / Diploma of French-language studies) are internationally recognised qualifications.
- A cohort of Transition Year students took on the challenge of preparing for and sitting their DELF examinations.
- Students worked with our French language assistant, Elodie, in readiness to sit the examinations at the Alliance Francaise, Limerick.
Mme Delphine Dunne came to present students with their diplomas upon successful completion of the course and receipt of results.
Correspondance
- JC students of French at Mungret Community College have been exchanging letters and cards with students of English in Collège Diderot, Cherbourg, France since 2022.
- Students from Cherbourg came to visit MCC in April 2024 to allow the penpals to meet in person.
- JC and SC students of French enjoyed a meet and greet permitting conversation and cultural exchange.
French Language Assistant
- Mungret Community College were granted a French language assistant for the academic year 2022-23 under the Foreign Language Assistant Scheme.
- Students and French teachers at MCC were able to expand their linguistic and cultural knowledge through their interactions with Elodie over the course of the year..
- For the academic year 2024-25 a new French language assistant, Louann, will work with students and teachers of French, in order to continue to bring French language and culture to life within our school community.
French Cinema
- Senior cycle students of French from across TY, 5th and 6th Year attended a screening of the French film “Sixteen” in May 2024.
- The film showing was organised by IFI (Irish Film Institute) as part of the IFI Schools Programme Regional Venue Tour.
