Lemon meringue tart
Potato gratin
Chicken wings
The last week of our culinary course we made lemon meringue tart, potato gratin and chicken wings. We were working on the second floor home economics room and all the ingredients were laid out at the front of the room. We were given a recipe sheet and would get the ingredients ourselves.
For the lemon meringue tart, we were put into pairs. I made the pastry, while my partner made the lemon filling and meringue. As the lemon filling needed time to set we made the potato gratin and chicken wings in the meantime. We took the bones out of a whole (dead, and fatherless) chicken and cut it in half to split with our partners. We sliced our potatoes thinly and covered them in cream and seasoning then put them in the oven with the now assembled tarts. While they both cooked in the oven, we covered the chicken in salt and other seasonings and cooked it on the stove. The last thing we had to do was present and then clean everything away neatly.
